Matrix, a leading international business solutions provider to global operators in the HSE&Q and business management arena, has been awarded the content update and software upgrade of BP’s Greater Plutonio FPSO’s Integrated Operations Safety Case (IOSC).

The IOSC uses the Matrix MAT-Nav Active (electronic) Safety Case andMAT-Sys Management System Software which was previously commissioned in 2006 by BP Greater Plutonio Operations in Angola.

The 8 month contract will be managed by Matrix’s London office and is scheduled to be completed in January 2010.

MAT-Nav isaweb-based graphical platform for navigating planned and operational facilities. It uses text, graphics and animations to access and convey key information and messages e.g. safety and environmental controls and features designed into the facilities and the thinking behind their use. MAT-Nav encourages understanding by non-specialists, helping to ensure day-to-day operations are comprehensively managed whilst minimising risk.

Wilf Luck, Managing Director of Matrix said, “We have been working continuously for BP Exploration and Production around the world since the mid-nineties and for BP Angola in particular for the last 10 years. We have a great working relationship with Greater Plutonio Operations and it’s nice to see that we are still able to meet their requirements”.

BP's association with Angola goes back to the mid 1970s. BP made substantial investments in Angola's offshore oil during the 1990s and it is now an important part of the company's upstream portfolio. BP has interests in four blocks in Angola with operating interests in Block 31 and Block 18 where the Greater Plutonio Project started production on 1st October 2007. BP also holds an interest in the Angola LNG project.
